Polyethylen ist der weltweit mit Abstand am häufigsten verwendete (Standard-)Kunststoff. Das ultrahochmolekulare Polyethylen besitzt bei hoher Zähigkeit gleichzeitig eine hohe Abriebfestigkeit (=sehr gute Gleiteigenschaften). Im Vergleich zum Standard PE HD (=hochmolekular) ist die Chemikalienbeständigkeit und die Spannrissbildung optimiert.
